STAAR Test Structure for 8th Grade

  • Math: 40 questions comprised of 32 1-point questions and 8 2-point questions. The test is graded out of 48.
  • Reading Language Arts (RLA): 45 questions comprised of 42 1-point questions and 2 2-point questions. There is also an extended constructed response question worth 10 points. The test is graded out of 56 points.
  • Science: 38 questions comprised of 30 1-point questions and 8 2-point questions. The test is graded out of 56.
  • Social Studies: 40 questions comprised of 31 1-point questions and 9 2-point questions. The test is graded out of 49.
