I'm happy to report that my 3rd grade niece took her SCAT test and passed the quantitative math portion with flying colors - 44 of 50 correct! Your test preps were a huge help.

We used the CogAT practice tests and I would definitely recommend it to other parents. I liked that my child had both the timed and step-by-step options when taking a practice test.

We used the OLSAT practice pack. We had a very good experience with this product. The study guide provided very useful information to familiarize with the test. I would give it a 9 out of 10.

We got the OLSAT/NNAT Bundle. We really like that we can watch the video academy multiple times. The site is easy and comfortable to use and I would recommend it to other parents of gifted children.

The test at school (NNAT) was easier than the questions on the website. I knew my answers were correct for all the questions except for two of them that I found somewhat confusing. I had a lot of fun doing the test!

About Johns Hopkins CTY Educational Travel Programs

CTY's Educational Travel programs offer families of gifted students the opportunity to participate in unique learning experiences at various destinations around the world. The program is held in several locations each summer, and aims to introduce students and parents to the different histories, cultures and environments of these locations. In 2018, for example, travel programs were held in South Africa, Scotland and the U.S.. As they learn, participants also have the opportunity to meet other families and gifted students and build lasting friendships. The program is recommended for students in grades 5-12. Younger siblings and other CTY participants in grades 2-4 may be allowed to enroll after a parent speaks with CTY staff about the suitability of the program.

Eligibility for CTY Educational Travel Programs

All students who participate in CTY's Talent Search are eligible to register for Educational Travel programs, regardless of their test scores. You can apply to Talent Search online through the CTY website or by requesting a paper application. After you apply, the CTY will provide you with information regarding relevant testing options for your child. After registering for and taking the appropriate test -- usually the CTY administered SCAT -- you will be notified of your child's eligibility for various CTY programs.

Preparing for the SCAT

While all Talent Search participants can enroll in Educational Travel programs, students must score highly on the SCAT in order to participate in CTY's other highly regarded gifted programs. If you believe your child can benefit from the unique opportunities of CTY programs, it is important to help them achieve to their highest ability on the SCAT. Preparing for this important test can help children relieve testing anxiety, familiarize themselves with test questions and increase their skill.
